Justine Hourihane handles all phases of appellate litigation in federal and state courts.  As a judicial clerk for the Presiding Judge, Honorable Shelley Sutker-Dermer, at the Circuit Court of Cook County, Ms. Hourihane had the unique opportunity to work closely with judges on both civil and criminal cases.  As a personal injury lawyer, she understands what legal arguments are persuasive to a judge, and utilizes this knowledge in drafting an appellate brief.  She gained additional experience in appellate work as a judicial extern for the Honorable Jill McNulty at the Illinois Appellate Court, and as an intern in the Office of Criminal Appeals Division of the Illinois Attorney General’s office. 

Ms. Hourihane graduated from Chicago-Kent College of Law, cum laude, where she was an Editor of the Chicago-Kent Journal of Intellectual Property and Team Captain in the Thomas Tang Moot Court Competition.  She received the CALI award for the highest grade in Trial Advocacy II. 

Ms. Hourihane is a certified mediator and has mediated various cases in the municipal divisions of the Circuit Courts of Cook County.
